I'm sure, like me, and maybe you, it didn't want to. But we all did anyway. Because the world didn't end yesterday.
I'm so sorry that yesterday turned out to be our last competition. I'm disappointed, but not in you. You all did everything that we asked, you showed up, and you gave your best performance of the year. And I'm so proud of you for that.
I'm also proud of you for your exemplary behavior yesterday. I never have to worry about you guys doing the right thing, and that's one of my favorite things about you! Did you know that our host from Muhlenberg yesterday was our host last year? He hosted us again yesterday because he specifically requested to host Henderson. That's the name you have made for yourselves, and you helped keep that good name yesterday.
But that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt. It should. Part of life is learning how do deal with disappointments. And I thought last night you guys did an excellent job of representing yourselves in the face of disappointment.
This season has been a success, and I'm so thankful to each of you for sharing it with me and the rest of the staff. Be proud of what you have accomplished, and reflect on what you have learned. Seniors, thank you for what you have given to the marching band and good luck to you in any future marching endeavors. Everyone else, let's think about what we can do to make next year a big success.
And don't forget we will be performing our show one last time for the community on Tuesday night at 6:30! We'll be honoring our seniors and running the show in uniform on our home field! I'm excited for you to have the chance to run the show for fun, for the opportunity to perform, without the encumbrance of a score. Please invite everyone you can so we'll have a big crowd.
It's okay to be sad, but we'll get that out of our system and we'll move on. I know I felt better after seeing this video this morning! Mr. Etienne showed me the original video a few months ago, this is a songified version that'll put a smile on your face.
Yours in music,
