The 2015 - 16 HCHS Wind Ensemble was thrilled to accept an invitation to travel to Washington D.C. and perform as a part of the National Memorial Day Concert Series, hosted by Music Celebrations International. 35 of our most talented musicians, along with a number of parent chaperones, Mr. Thomas, Mr. Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Etienne, Cameron Ivie, Dr. Sally Sugg and her husband, Mr. Chad Thompson and his wife spent Memorial Day weekend sightseeing in our nation's capital.
The Wind Ensemble performed twice to rave reviews, including as part of the series at the National Air Force Memorial, and on Memorial Day in a private concert at the Thomas Jefferson Memorial. We enjoyed our time with our host, LaVerne, and with HCHS Band alumni and current Air Force Band members Brandon Chaney and Kaitlin Taylor!
The concert program included: "An American Fanfare" (Kirby), "Hymn to the Fallen" (Williams), "Salute to America's Finest" (Lavender), "An American Fanfare" (Ticheli), "Symphonic Suite from Star Wars: The Force Awakens" (Williams), "Theme from The West Wing," (Walden), "My Old Kentucky Home" (Foster/Speck), "America, The Beautiful" (Dragon), and "The Stars and Stripes Forever" (Sousa).
